President Hassan Rouhani said Tehran gives Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia 60 days to help protect Iran from U.S. sanctions

A file photo taken on October 26, 2010 shows the reactor building at the Russian-built Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran, 1200 Kms south of the Iranian capital Tehran. - Iran said on May 8, 2019 it will stop respecting limits on its nuclear activities agreed under a landmark 2015 deal unless other powers help Tehran bypass renewed US sanctions, amid rising tensions with Washington.

France’s defense minister said she wanted to keep the nuclear deal alive but warned Iran it could face more sanctions if it did not honor its part of the deal.“Today nothing would be worse than Iran, itself, leaving this agreement,” Florence Parly told BFM TV. The Trump administration has restored U.S. sanctions and extended them, effectively ordering countries around the world to stop buying Iranian oil or face sanctions of their own.

“If the five countries came to the negotiating table and we reached an agreement, and if they could protect our interests in the oil and banking sectors, we will go back to square one ,” Rouhani said.
