Favourite features: Appearance, function, colourThe iPad 10th gen looks a lot sleeker than the previous model. The updated even bezels shouldn’t be as impactful as they are. The body of the iPad feels like a really large iPhone 14, with defined squared edges, compared to the rounded 9th gen.

The speed and connectivity make it more useful for day-to-day functions that could take the place of a computer for travellers, content creators or casual users.Let there be colour, and it was good. I tested the “yellow,” which is more like a yellowish gold. The blue and silver tell the truth, but the “pink” is more like a light red . The yellow is my favourite. This way my Apple ecosystem could be happy and I could use paired functions, like iMessage. After I was done using the iPad for the day, I closed thecase. The next morning, I received an early a.m. call and was confused why I heard ringing through my muted iPhone. It was the iPad. Turns out you need to manually turn off notifications through the iPad’s settings. There should be a switch at the side of the iPad just like the iPhone has .Article content for charging. You also need to take off the pencil-eraser-size cap to charge the pencil. Essentially, in order to charge the pencil, you need to connect a few little pieces that seem like they’ll be lost to the tech ether.I mostly like the keyboard, so it doesn’t really deserve to be in the “least favourite” section, but it should be backlit. I like the feel of the keyboard and the extra row of keys above the numbers that control functions like volume and screen brightness.The iPad 10th generation is a powerful tablet and is a major upgrade from the 9th gen. If you’re considering buying an iPad for the first time, I’d recommend going for the latest version if you’re okay with the cost jump. However, the 9th gen is a solid option if you’re just using the iPad for basic uses or maybe as a portable video/app player for a child. The iPad Pro is on the other end of the scale. It could be a useful prop for a digital designer, videographer or content creator.Article content The whole Apple Pencil 1st gen charging situation is certainly not ideal, but the iPad Pro is almost double the price.
