Iowa State coaches will take a pay cut, as the athletics department tries to make up for lost revenue due to canceled Big 12 and NCAA basketball tournaments.
According to a six-point plan, athletics director Jamie Pollard announced Wednesday a “one-year, temporary pay reduction for athletics department coaches and certain staff. This comprehensive plan will reduce total payroll by more than $3 million,” Pollard wrote.A one-year suspension of all bonus incentives for all coaches; Iowa State says this is expected to save the department $1 million.

Those required payments can be made monthly, quarterly or semi-annually, according to the release. “It was also important to us to provide our loyal ticket holders and donors some relief in regard to ticket prices and donations.”after the NCAA announced last week that its reimbursement to schools and conferences will total $375 million less than last year, because of the lost basketball tournament.
