viable on February 3, 2020 in Carpenter, Iowa.: The Iowa caucuses were delayed Monday night after state party officials “found inconsistencies in the reporting of three sets of results,” but volunteers on the ground report even more chaos with telephone wait times and a faulty smartphone app.
Mandy McClure, the communications director for the Iowa Democratic party, denied that the app used to transmit results to the state party headquarters crashed. “This is simply a reporting issue, the app did not go down and this is not a hack or an intrusion. The underlying data and paper trail is sound and will simply take time to further report the results,” she said in a statement.
McClure added the party was using “photos of results and a paper trail to validate that all results match and ensure that we have confidence and accuracy in the numbers we report.”that they couldn’t access the app and that a hotline for transmitting results was overwhelmed with increased call volume.to top state party officials, Joe Biden said candidates deserve “full explanations” before any results are released.
