SAN DIEGO – A whistleblower working for the city revealed that millions of funds were being diverted to community benefit organizations that also participate in liberal political movements.
It is illegal for taxpayer funds to go towards political causes. While arguments can be made that the organizations only benefited in non-political ways, the sheer amount of funds that were allotted to these interest groups speak to a more discrete transactional relationship between said groups and the government.
KUSI’s Paul Rudy was joined by Transparency spokesperson Carl DeMaio to discuss the legality of these transactions.
