THE HAGUE — The International Criminal Court said Friday that it has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes, accusing him of personal responsibility for the It was the first time the global court has issued a warrant against a leader of one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine’s U.N. ambassador, recalled that on the night of Russia’s invasion, “I said at the Security Council meeting that there is no purgatory for war criminals, they go straight to hell. Today, I would like to say that those of them who will remain alive after the military defeat of Russia will have to make a stop in The Hague on their way to hell.”
During a visit this month, ICC prosecutor Khan said he went to a care home for children 2 kilometers from front lines in southern Ukraine.
