The Interior Department will offer programs encouraging its workers to quit, Secretary Doug Burgum announced Thursday.
Burgum described the offer as part of an initiative focused on “optimizing operations” and “streamlining outdated bureaucracy.” “Effective stewardship requires disciplined management of the resources entrusted to us,” he said in a statement. “By modernizing our operations we’re strengthening our ability to carry out Interior’s mission and deliver world-class service for the American people.” The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union of federal workers, has expressed concern over the Trump administration’s attempts to shrink its.
