Bonsu said her 10-year-old son's bedroom was particularly close to the fire and the incident has deeply shaken him. Amanda Mensah Bonsu says when the fire was finally extinguished, she noticed it had started on the right side of the building where the oil pipes were located, and she felt terrified at the thought of a potential explosion. - Thinh Nguyen/SaltWire

The entire family is still grappling with the traumatic event, Bonsu said. She can't help but think about how their apartment's proximity to the fire made them vulnerable.
