The Duarte, California, location of the Old Spaghetti Factory is known for its creepy ghost stories about the old schoolhouse from 1909.
I hadn't visited an Old Spaghetti Factory in years, and I was curious if the food was as good as I thought it was as a kid. To start, I ordered the Sicilian garlic cheese bread, which is garlic bread with melted cheese served with marinara. It was pretty good, and the portion was large for just $8.99.
The flavors were immensely rich. I had never heard of mizithra, a Greek whey cheese that was salt dried and loaded onto my plate. Sicilian garlic cheese bread; vanilla ice cream; chicken parmigiana; mizithra cheese and browned butter pasta.
