It doesn’t matter who ends up sitting on the Iron Throne because Game Of Thrones itself is the biggest winner from the final season.
Interest and ratings in the TV phenomenon were always expected to be high but it appears an unprecedented number of people have GoT FOMO, or Fear Of Missing Out.
“We’ve been blown away by the ratings of the cultural phenomenon that is Game of Thrones,” said Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh.Episode four of GoT’s final season screens on Monday on Foxtel.“This season has seen unprecedented viewership not only with record-breaking live premieres of each episode on Fox Showcase but also across our digital services with never-before-seen levels of downloads and streaming.
Given 2.7 million copies of George RR Martin’s book series have already been sold, it appears the final season had created a new wave of fans. “Once they start the TV they need to go back to the books to find out where the inspiration came from — and what got left out of the show.
