Indonesia spares no expense celebrating Olympic badminton heroes with a meatball restaurant TokyoTakeTwo Tokyo2020 Olympics

That’s what happened to Indonesian badminton heroes Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu, who shocked China in the women’s doubles final in Tokyo on Monday,Apriyani’s home island Sulawesi offered up five cows and a house while meatball eatery chain Baso Aci Abang gave the pair a storefront.

The top duo are also welcome to visit the country’s top six tourist destinations for free. If Canada did the same for its stars, it would mean excursions to spots like Niagara Falls, Whistler, Banff, the CN Tower, Old Quebec and the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. The perks are above the Indonesian government’s eye-opening $350,000 cash prize. The gross national income last year was just under $12,000.

The Indonesians aren’t the only Southeast Asian nation showering its sports stars with presents. Philippines weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won her country’s first Olympic gold last week and was provided with multiple homes, $660,000 and a van, reported Nikkei Asia.
