An Indian politician who said he was drinking ‘holy water’ from a polluted river ended up in hospital with a stomach infection three days later.

He had drunk the water from the Kali Bein river, ironically on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of its cleaning, in Sultanpur Lodhi on Sunday.

During he visit, he had announced the launch of a statewide campaign to clean rivers and drains in the state.He was kept under observation by a team of medical experts for two days before being discharged on Thursday.He took a scoop from the river Mr Mann is not the only person who believes they were drinking something for a good cause.Harry Matadeen, started drinking his own pee in 2016 and swears it has ‘cured’ his depression.
