An interior designer from India, Aayushi Jain, had an unexpected encounter that changed her life forever. While watching the sunrise with her family on October 1, 2023, they found a tiny, striped squirrel seemingly asleep beside their car. Realizing he was too young to survive on his own and unable to locate his nest, Aayushi and her family decided to adopt him. They named him Gillraj, and he quickly became a cherished member of the family. \Gillraj's arrival presented its unique challenges.
Aayushi and her family had to learn how to care for an orphaned squirrel, ensuring he was fed frequently and kept warm, even waking up during the night to check on him. They researched extensively on what and how to feed such a small creature, ultimately using a syringe to nourish him. Observing his digestion was a major relief for them. \Adjusting to having a walnut-sized animal at home was a learning curve. Aayushi describes how Gillraj became a source of comfort during difficult times, including financial struggles, a family loss, and personal setbacks. He offers her exclusive hugs by wrapping his tiny paws around her fingers and asking for kisses. During moments of sadness, he would comfort her by staying close and refusing to leave until she felt better. Gillraj is not just a source of comfort, but also a curious and mischievous companion. He loves sunbathing, sleeping, and staying in pockets. He's bold and attention-seeking, following a strict routine that includes breakfast, sunbathing, house exploration, and massages from everyone. He even travels with the family, embracing his 'Dora the Explorer' nature. Gillraj is a testament to the extraordinary bonds that can form between humans and animals, proving that love and companionship can be found in the most unexpected places
