The cleanup was led by the League to Save Lake Tahoe which assembled over 300 volunteers, an eight-person dive team and even a beach-cleaning robot to sift through the sands for smaller pieces of trash.. The five most common types of trash items found are glass, food wrappers, paper, plastics and, by far the most collected, cigarette butts. In fact, after this year’s cleanup, the volunteers removed 2,500 cigarette butts.
