The tragedy cast a pall over the day’s election and Paxton sounded somber during his victory speech, as Houston Public Media"We're going down there [to Uvalde] tomorrow," Paxton said at his watch party."We're going to do our job tomorrow. We're going to try to help these people."Things didn’t go as we planned.
