The El Cerrito City Council is seeking applicants to serve on city advisory bodies. The city has 13 boards, commissions and committees and four regional bodies on which about 90 residents serve as members. More than 45 seats are vacant, with 20 more terms set to expire in March 2024.

Doing so is also an excellent way to participate in local government and make a personal contribution to El Cerrito’s improvement. The City Council appoints members for terms of four years, and meetings are generally held once a month during evening hours. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, after which brief interviews will be scheduled with the City Council in February. Open recruitment is done year-round should any unexpected vacancies occur, and any applications received after the deadline will be kept on file for this purpose. The El Cerrito Lions Club is sponsoring its 31st annual placing of flags on veterans’ graves Nov. 11 on Veterans Day in Sunset View Cemetery at 101 Colusa Ave. in El Cerrito.
