With a longer timetable, Berhalter seems less likely to be rehired because he presumably would want to find a new job soon and because the pool of potential U.S. candidates would grow as club seasons wind down this spring. The USSF said it has retained Sportsology Group, a sports advisory firm, to head the search for Stewart’s replacement. Sportsology has also already begun a full review of the USSF’s sporting department, the federation said, and the group will also “analyze head coach candidates to accelerate the hiring process.”The sporting director will then oversee the process of hiring the head coach, the USSF said.
