Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry leaves game early with injury in loss to Boston Celtics
SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors won’t grieve the end of a four-game win streak much. Though the Boston Celtics handed them a 110-88 loss on Wednesday night at Chase Center, all concerns center around Steph Curry’s health.
Curry injured his foot in the first half and was rule out for the rest of the game when Marcus Smart rolled over it fighting for a loose ball. Smart doubled down with a mid-air kick at Klay Thompson’s neck. Worn by this team’s struggle to stay healthy, head coach Steve Kerr chided Smart from the sideline for his aggressive play.
Curry’s injury cast a cloud over a physical game that left the Warriors in a hole they couldn’t climb out of. They trailed by as many as 24 points in the first half. Jordan Poole gave the Warriors a bit of life, nearly digging the Warriors out of a 13-point halftime deficit with a 19-point third quarter that included five 3-pointers made. He finished with a team-leading 29 points and six 3-pointers made. With their 23rd loss, the Warriors fall one game back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the Western Conference’s second seed.
