“Detectives were able to determine that both victims in this brutal attack were targeted by the suspect due to them being Muslim and the on-going Middle Eastern conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis,” said the sheriff’s office. Inside the home, authorities said they found two victims — the 32-year-old woman and a 6-year boy — with "multiple stab wounds to their chest, torso and upper extremities." The two were then taken to a hospital, with the boy in critical condition and the woman in serious condition.
An autopsy of the boy performed revealed that he was “stabbed 26 times throughout his body," with the police adding that the knife removed from the victim by the forensic pathologist was a 12-inch serrated military style weapon.Police said that Czuba was taken to the Will County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex for questioning by detectives after he was treated and released from the hospital.
