National Weather Service officials says there is just a slim chance San Antonians will catch a peek.
Stargazers in 2015 try to align a telescope to view the planets Venus and Jupiter during a star-viewing party at McAllister Park.San Antonians along with most Earthlings will be able to watch Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Mars align in the night sky Tuesday. But that's only if the sky is clear, which is iffy.according to Bill CookeA planetary alignment is when several planets gather closely on one side of the sun, according to the astronomy guide app.
A five-planet alignment usually occurs only once every two decades, but this will be the second in less than one year. It happened last June. Tuesday is the best day for observation, but the alignment will be visible a few days before and after, too.The best time to see it will be soon after sunset, according to Starwalk. Viewers will need to look to the western horizon.
The weather outlook is not promising for San Antonio stargazers. Tuesday evening is expected to be mostly cloudy with a 15 percent to 20 percent chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
