After being placed on the injured reserve on Friday, Matthew is eligible to return on Tuesday against the visiting Ottawa Senators. The 27-year-old, who has dealt with shoulder and wrist ailments in the past, has five goals and 11 points in 13 games this season.
The 31-year-old American hasn't recorded a point in 11 games this season with the Isles, his second with the team. Forward Alex Turcotte has been placed on the injured reserve with a upper-body injury while forward Samuel Helenius has been recalled on an emergency basis.
