A goat ate his nana's garden, but this Perry County boy found a way to make his produce sales happen.
Eight-year-old John-Luke Radle has wanted to be a farmer since he was first able to say what he wanted to be when he grew up, according to his mom, Stacey Radle. With his new produce stand, John-Luke is working to make that dream come true.
Initially, the plan was for John-Luke to grow all the produce he’d be selling. However, John-Luke hit a run of bad luck that goes by the name “Lucky.” John-Luke, with his produce eaten by hungry goats, refused to give up. Instead, he began going to the Snyder County Produce Auction. According to his mom, he likes to get to the auction early so he can decide which lots he wants for the stand. “He likes to make sure everything is of very good quality,” Stacey said.
He also likes to add an exotic twist to his selection when he can. “I try to get the colorful cauliflower or the Roman cauliflower.”
