As someone with a serious sweet tooth, I needed a flossing routine I could actually stick with. This battery-powered tool delivered.
Confession time: I have a serious sweet tooth. Candy is my weakness, and while I try to stay on top of my dental hygiene, I’ve never been particularly enthusiastic about flossing.
And listen, I know brushing is only part of the equation. If you’re skipping floss altogether, you’re leaving a lot behind. Traditionalto me, especially when trying to reach the back teeth, while disposable floss picks are convenient but leave me feeling guilty about how much plastic I throw away. , I’ll admit I was intrigued yet skeptical.
After using it, though, I understand the appeal. A lot of people like to use anuses 12,000 vibrations per minute to help the floss glide between teeth more easily while cleaning areas that are often difficult to reach with traditional floss. The vibrations aren’t aggressive or uncomfortable. Instead, they help the floss work through tight spaces with noticeably less effort on my part.
The biggest difference I noticed wasn’t necessarily that I was flossing better — it was that I actually wanted to floss. This made the process feel less tedious. Design-wise, Slate Origin nailed it. The handle has a clean, modern look that feels right at home sitting next to an electric toothbrush, and it even includes a protective cap for the floss head to keep it clean between uses.
It’s available in white, black and light blue, and the streamlined design is easy to rinse off and reuse after each session. Honestly, because it feels and grips so much like my electric toothbrush, using the flosser has become second nature. I automatically reach for it after brushing every morning and night without really thinking about it, which has made sticking to a flossing routine much easier. For $80, the tool delivers more than just a good flossing.
In addition to the reusable floss head, it includes an integrated gum cleaner and tongue scraper, turning it into a compact three-in-one dental tool. The set includes three replacement heads that attach securely to the handle, so it stays firmly in place throughout your flossing routine. I’ll admit I wasn’t someone who regularly used a tongue scraper before trying this. But having one built directly into the head made it incredibly easy to add to my routine.
I found myself using it almost every time I brushed and flossed simply because it was already in my hand. Another aspect I appreciate is the reusable design. According to the brand, each head, which comes with a pre-installed woven, wax-coated floss, is designed to last about a week before needing to be replaced. Thus, helping to cut down on the amount of single-use plastic compared with disposable floss picks.
And, I must say, I wasn’t convinced the floss would survive a full week without fraying or breaking, but it proved me wrong. The floss head held up remarkably well throughout the week. Will an electric flosser suddenly make you excited to floss? Let’s not get too excited.
But if you’re someone who routinely skips flossing because it feels inconvenient or tedious,, it’s clear I’m not the only one who’s been happy with it. One reviewer with rheumatoid arthritis in their hands evenI was initially skeptical about the Slate electric flosser because I’ve always emphasized the importance of regular floss or water pick to my patients.
However, after trying it myself, Glad they came out with this. I was going to get the competitor since it was lighter than the original but I really liked the versatility of the heads with Slate . This one is perfect, lightweight, easy to use and bonus tongue cleaner is really good too. Biggest reason I hated traditional flossing is because it dug into my fingers this causes no issues when flossing.
I don’t have tight spaces so it’s fine with me been using it for over a week now neither of the heads broke on me. Need more colors! ” —“The Slate Flosser works GREAT, and each of these heads usually lasts for more than one flossing session. I can’t imagine having to go back to the old manual flossing method. PLEASE keep making and selling the electric flossing system.
