Sarah 'felt lost' until she had a 'breakthrough moment'
A woman overcame adversity to excel in a surprising skill. Sarah Ellis, 29, from the city centre , struggled to maintain her fitness and found it difficult when she moved to the city during lockdown. Sarah told the ECHO: “When I was a teenager, I did suffer from anorexia. It can really affect you. During lockdown, I moved over to Liverpool. I was living on my own and wanted to get out and get moving. “I went running but I felt very lost.
Sarah claims it balances well with her current PhD at the University of Liverpool in Spanish literature. She said: “Doing a PhD is not like your undergrad where there’s 200 people and you can meet up. “Having that gym community - you can train together and back each other. It's a nice way to let off some steam.” Sarah is keen to stress however that it takes time to build up your ability and confidence in this field.
