Dozens of artists from the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts painted 50 portraits of the program’s members.
The nonprofit hosted the event to honor 33 artists from the Coppini Academy of Art who created paintings for a series called “Faces of the Arc.” The original art will be given to each subject of each painting — all members of the adult life enrichment program. The project was the idea of Antoinette Dooley, an artist who painted two of the paintings and mother of Arc member Shaun Dooley. She was inspired during COVID-19 when she watched a virtual class of artist Rose Frantzen, who painted 8x10 portraits of anyone who wanted to sit for her at Maquoketa, Iowa, studio.
