After long and countless bouts of silence on his part during an RCMP interview on the day of his Oct. 1, 2020 arrest, Bobby Rogers of Yarmouth, accused of killing 26-year-old Colton Cook days earlier, eventually breaks his silence: 'I did it.'

Colton Cook of Yarmouth County was killed in September 2020. CONTRIBUTED - - ContributedVardy tells Rogers he made a lot of mistakes and a lot of evidence was left behind at his South Ohio residence, including DNA evidence.

Asked how many times he shot Cook, Rogers says he believes just once. He says he doesn’t remember hearing the shotgun blast, but he remembers the verbal reaction of his friend Wayne Crawford, who was inside the residence.“I just wish he hadn’t come over,” Rogers says about Cook. Testing on a chainsaw that had been taken from the residence did have Cook’s DNA on it, the court heard in previous testimony.

Rogers had been drinking all day on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020. And he and Crawford kept drinking the day after. And in the days to come. Vardy later asks Rogers if he wants to say something to Cook’s family. Rogers says if he was in their shoes, he wouldn’t want to hear anything he has to say. He made a video statement to Crawford on the day of their Oct. 1, 2020 arrest, which was played in the courtroom on this eight day of the trial.
