Immigration Nation 🇬🇧 Mona Adam could barely speak English and had limited knowledge of the country when she came to the UK as an asylum seeker in 2004. Now she is a Labour Councillor for Golborne. This is her story 👇

My heart aches for those encountering these challenges, not knowing where to turn for help. That’s why I have decided to share my story, to tell those people they are not alone and – although the challenges are hard – they will sharpen your resolve and remind you that you are stronger and more capable than you think.

There are many professionals – including doctors and nurses – who are stuck in the asylum process, unable to work, contribute and support themselves and their families. If we want a better future for the UK, we need to utilise the unique skills and talents of each and every person here, irrespective of their country of origin.
