Several major roads in the Sierra Nevada are closed due to snow conditions and zero visibility, Caltrans announced Friday morning.
“Thanks for your patience. Please slow down in snowy conditions. The speed limit is 30 mph in chain control areas,” Caltrans said.to all traffic. Caltrans said at 8:37 a.m. that state Route 49 is closed from Downieville to Sattley in both directions, and state Route 89 is closed from Eagle Lake Campground to Bliss State Park due to snow.
Farther south, state Route 88 is closed from Dew Drop to Kirkwood due to snow. Carson Pass closed on Feb. 23 and is now open.SR-88/Carson Pass currently is open.
