WINGHAM, ONT. — Hydro One Networks Inc. and Gregory Diebold, a supervisor, have been fined a total of $262,000 in relation to an incident that occurred on a construction project in 2022 on Howick-Turnberry Road near Gilmour Line in Wingham, Ont. that left one worker with critical injuries.
The powerline they were working on was deenergized. A single rural 4.8 kilovolt powerline below them was still live and a cover-up barrier was not applied, the bulletin states. The distance between the powerlines was about 20.5 feet. The job planners failed to complete a work plan identifying the hazards at this specific work location.
