One day, the wife decided to eat a crab salad with onion, hoping it was a type she could tolerate. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the harmful kind. Her husband had to administer an EpiPen and rush her to the emergency room due to her intense allergic reaction. After her stay in the emergency room , the husband took her to her mother’s house, as he was struggling with his wife's self-neglecting behavior. The woman is allergic to green and red onions but not to yellow or white ones.
This type of onion allergy is rare. While food intolerance is common, it does not cause the severe symptoms she experiences. The husband is cautious while buying food, checking labels for red and green onions, which she does not. One evening, he found her eating crab salad from an unfamiliar container. Upon checking, he discovered the salad contained onions and she had eaten it in hope of it being the safe kind. She had a severe allergic reaction and needed an EpiPen.
