Hurricane Otis rapidly intensified in power from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane in just 12 hours, leaving residents in the storm's path little time to prepare.

Category 5 Hurricane Otis has made landfall in Mexico, near Acapulco early on Wednesday.
