Nicholas strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane late Monday as it aims for the Texas coast.

The winds and waters of Hurricane Nicholas should crash into the Texas Coastal Bend area late Monday night or early Tuesday, sending heavy rains and winds to the area battered by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The National Hurricane Center stated late Monday that Tropical Storm Nicholas had intensified into a Category 1 hurricane with a landfall pending along the Texas coast close to midnight.
