More than 1500 flights scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday operating through Florida airports have been canceled due to Hurricane Dorian.
Roughly 1,200 flights scheduled to start or end in Miami, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale or Palm Beach on Tuesday have been canceled, according to FlightAware.com.American Airlines said Tuesday that it has issued a travel alert for more than 20 airports, including some in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

The storm, currently classified as a Category 2 hurricane, stalled over the Bahamas during the Labor Day holiday weekend and is currently projected to move toward the Carolinas in the coming days. "The hurricane will then move dangerously close to the Florida east coast late today through Wednesday evening, very near the Georgia and South Carolina coasts Wednesday night and Thursday, and near or over the North Carolina coast late Thursday and Thursday night," the National Hurricane Center said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon.
