Sen. Tim Scott slammed Attorney General Merrick Garland's appointment of a special counsel in the Justice Department's investigation into Hunter Biden as a"forceful sign" that nothing has changed in the department.
Scott added that President Joe Biden and Garland should be fired from their positions, in order to restore trust in the Justice Department. "If Weiss negotiated the sweetheart deal that couldn't get approved, how can he be trusted as a Special Counsel?" House Speaker Kevin McCarthy posted to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter."House Republicans will continue to pursue the facts for the American people."
If Weiss negotiated the sweetheart deal that couldn’t get approved, how can he be trusted as a Special Counsel?Scott said he supports an impeachment inquiry into the president and his role in the Hunter Biden scandal because he believes the"cookie crumb trails" lead to the Biden family and not just Hunter Biden. McCarthy has toyed with the idea of opening an impeachment inquiry into the president but did not open one prior to the chamber's August recess.
