Voters said yes to $588 million for Comal ISD; San Marcos, Hay districts also getting significant funding infusions.
The vast majority of that total was the $560.5 million Proposition A, which is intended to fund three new elementary and a new middle school, as well as a new facility for young adults with disabilities.
Voters said no to Proposition B, which would have provided $46.1 million for athletics facilities improvements at Canyon High School and Davenport High School. District officials have said the funding is needed to deal with Comal ISD's rapid increase in student population. The district had 27,288 students in the 2021-2022 school year, up from 17,140 in the 2010-2011 school year. The district projects it will add 7,000 students in the next five years.
