Hundreds of demonstrators marched through downtown Dallas Sunday afternoon in protest of Texas' new immigration law.

More than a dozen community and political organizations came together to march down Commerce St. in downtown Dallas, March 24, 2024.

Oak Lawn United Methodist Church Associate Pastor Isabel Márquez speaks at the Sunday rally at the Civic Garden in downtown Dallas.Laura Gonzalez said she and about 10 others from the Council For Minority Student Affairs at Texas A&M University came to Dallas to attend the rally. She wanted to advocate for people who may not have the opportunity to speak up for themselves.

“We know that at the core of it, it’s all tied together and imperialism and settler colonialism is at the root of all of these issues, so seeing something like Senate Bill 4 being passed and knowing that our tax dollars go toward racist profiling — we’re no strangers to that as Palestinians,” she said.

A man that goes by the name Tejas Mojado leads a group of 200 people that rallied and then marched down Commerce St., March 24, 2024.As demonstrators walked down Commerce Street, just past the AT&T Discovery District, Guadalupe Calderon watched from the sidewalk with her mother, Maria Lucio, who could be seen mouthing the chants in Spanish.
