According to the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal documents, Tracy Obsniuk alleges that the Library implemented a new shift schedule that conflicted with her childcare obligations, and refused to provide her with reasonable accommodation.

Victoria library worker and mother will have her discrimination case heard in front of the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal involving the Greater Victoria Public Library Board .

Her original 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. set schedule allowed her to make the last childcare pick-up times, which were 5:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. However, the new set schedule of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. conflicted with her childcare obligations. Instead she was allotted three months where she could leave work early, as well as work on making other childcare arrangements.

During a follow-up meeting a couple of months later in November, Obsniuk expressed to the Library how the stress of scheduling conflicts was negatively impacting her health.
