Human remains believed to belong to a missing Far North Queensland fisherman have been found inside a large crocodile euthanised by wildlife officers. 9News
While the remains are yet to be formally identified, Queensland Police believe the grisly discovery will solve the mystery of what happened to Kevin Darmody, who vanished on Saturday while fishing the croc-infested Kennedy River, north-west of Port Douglas.
Department of Environment and Science wildlife officers caught two large crocs on Monday night, one measuring a monster 4.1 metres, upstream from where the 65-year-old was last seen.Darmody was fishing with a friend near the Kennedy Bend campsite when he vanished, the only clueOfficials performed necropsies on the two crocs yesterday afternoon. The other crocodile measured 2.8 metres.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Detective Acting Inspector Jason Chetham said it was "obviously" possible that Darmody had been dragged into the water by a big croc.Kevin Darmody went missing near the Kennedy Bend campsite in the Rinyirru National ParkPolice have called off the intensive search operation for Darmody, a well-known publican and fishing enthusiast from the Cape York town of Laura.
Darmody was last seen at 3.30pm on Saturday at the Kennedy River at Rinyirru National Park, about 340km north-west of Cairns.
