In it, we meet Victor , who has just transferred to Creekwood High School after his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, from Texas. But when potential new friends start grilling him, Victor feels immediately put on the spot, and constrained by heterosexual assumptions. “Is there a girl back home?” one classmate asks — right when Benji walks down the hallway in that slow-motion, this-is-the-love-interest way that trailers love. “Nope, no girl back in Texas,” Victor tries.
