Because spring races are no longer bringing in revenue, many event organizers have been forced to cut their budgets by laying off staff members.

NYCRuns—a group that puts on several 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons annually in New York City—shared on its, “Over the last few weeks, our revenue has fallen to about 10 percent of what it should be, an untenable position for any business. With no sign of an end on the horizon and event cancellations beginning, we were faced with no choice, but to lay off most of our full time staff. The remaining Team took 50 percent pay cuts.

To help save the staff members of NYCRuns, the company is asking for people to pre-order registration packages that contain a full year’s worth of race bibs to use once events resume. Each registration package guarantees entry to every NYCRuns-owned race the group puts on each year at no additional cost. The packages cost $650 for one year , $1,000 for two years , $2,000 for five years , and $3,000 for 10 years .
