Air quality is expected to gradually improve throughout Friday, before cool winds significantly clean the skies by late Saturday. In lieu of air conditioning, here are some ways residents can shield themselves from the worst of the wildfire smoke:Bay Area Air Quality Management District officials stress that when wildfire smoke is present, residents should stay indoors as much as possible and close off any opening that could let outdoor contaminants inside their homes. This includes shutting and caulking all windows and blocking off the openings at the bottom of all doors leading to the outside.
