How to make a 'Game Of Thrones' dragon:

The VFX team is led by HBO’s VFX Supervisor Joe Bauer and VFX Producer Steve Kullback, who have been in charge of the visual effects for the series since season three and season two, respectively.

They had to find subtle ways to show their suffering.
