It is possible for Christians to celebrate the National Day of Prayer without also promoting Christian nationalist ideology.

We are fortunate to live in a religiously pluralistic community in North Texas, writes Mara Richards Bim.Recently a friend of mine who is a member of the United Methodist Church sent me an image that her church was considering using to encourage the congregation to participate in the National Day of Prayer on May 2.
In researching the image my friend sent to me, I see that it came from the very official-sounding organization called. However, the mission of this evangelical organization, founded in Colorado Springs in 1986, is actually to co-opt the multifaith holiday and rebrand it into a Christian nationalist one.
As you celebrate the day, consider focusing on the diversity of America and our many faith traditions. As citizens of this country, we have the great privilege of a shared commitment to religious liberty for all. That is unique and truly something to celebrate!
