This entrepreneur is creating space for African-American bourbon enthusiasts
Founded in 2016, Black Bourbon Society aims to bring together African-American bourbon enthusiasts from across the United States. Through their platforms and exclusive events; BBS encourages their members to enjoy premium bourbon, network with like-minded bourbon lovers, and learn more about spirits.
African-Americans are the most likely demographic group to prefer spirits like whiskey or Cognac over beer or wine, In an effort to create more visibility, Rivers began to host bourbon tasting events for her friends. Sharing the love of bourbon was seamless for Rivers, as her soirees began to expand.
Although Rivers is an emerging CEO and entrepreneur, she is also a mother to two small children, a daughter, and son and doesn’t take being a positive role model lightly. We recently spoke to Rivers about her love of bourbon, desire to bridge the gap between the spirits industry and African-Americans, and what’s she’s proud of as an entrepreneur.I have always been an entrepreneur of some sort.
