The man whom co-workers know as “Marty” said he is enjoying a break from the rigors of a career that allowed little time away from the keyboard. He now lives in a Craftsman home on a dirt road, bordering a state forest, where he has time for hiking, kayaking and sharing a lively local arts scene with other Boston and New York expatriates. “If I get tired of communing with the porcupines, bears and foxes, I go to New York to talk to people,” he quipped.
