The banking crisis has college students on edge about Wall Street jobs and internships. 'I just want to know what the plan is.'
Students are wondering who will be next and whether their summer gigs — or worse, their first-year start dates — will be impacted, according to a finance professor, a student with an analyst job lined up at Credit Suisse, and a Wall Street recruiting coach.
"We've reached out to all of our incoming analysts and interns. We've confirmed to them that we're looking forward to welcoming them this summer," a spokesperson for SVB Securities told Insider."We're excited to have them join the team and fully expect them to be great contributors." "No one in the group has said anything explicitly, but I just know from people in other parts of the bank that they were saying, 'Hey, it would just be smart to have a backup option,'" said the future analyst."I just want to know what the plan is," the person said. Students with summer internships lined up at Wall Street banks are also worried, said a finance professor at a top 10, according to US News and World Report.
"I mean, if this happened back in the fall or even winter, it'd be a little easier, but it's pretty much April at this point. Makes things more challenging.""A big reason why I wanted to work at CS was my group," he said, which could stand to change or reshape dramatically come time for the merge."What's the culture going to be like at UBS and CS merged?
