In an unusual moment of foreshadowing, Marvel's Voices: Wakanda Forever 1 reveals how Shuri will die. Facing an alien invasion from a society who worship a nameless god, Shuri will fall. Now, she just has to live with that knowledge.
Warning: Spoilers for Marvel's Voices: Wakanda Forever #1Anyone who assumes the mantle of the Black Panther is expected to hold that position until the day they die, and for Shuri, that day has now been etched in stone. Originally, T'Challa earned the right to become the King of Wakanda and the nation's protector as Black Panther, but his reign was nearly cut short after being put in a coma by Doctor Doom.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY That period of time comes to an end in the story "Remember the Name" by Murewa Ayodele, Dotun Akande and Dee Cunniffe from the anthology Marvel's Voices: Wakanda Forever. The story sees Shuri faced with her biggest challenge yet: a priest from an alien society which considers names a kind of bondage. After the nameless alien defeats the Wakanda Army, the Wakandan Special Forces and the Dora Milaje, the priest engages Shuri's Black Panther in battle.
This vision places Shuri in quite a unique predicament. Her mother, Queen Ramonda, insists that when this battle comes, Shuri should avoid direct confrontation, instead offering support from her lab. However, Shuri is undeterred. "I am the Black Panther, mother," she says. "I am Shuri of Wakanda. I am beyond death." As protector of Wakanda, she is not going to hide in her lab while such a dangerous enemy lays waste to her nation.
There Will Always Be a Black Panther Black Panthers have seldom - if ever - been notified of how or when they'll die. Shuri may not know the when, but she knows the how and the who that will lead to her death. She doesn't look upon this vision with fear or trepidation, but instead with a determined poker face. She may not yet be prepared to physically defeat this obstacle, but she is ready to face it without fear.
