After recently completing his first year on the job, Larson sat down with Houston Chronicle to discuss what’s next for downtown Houston. The interview has been edited for length and clarity. Q: Speaking of above ground activity, your boards are working on upgrading the pedestrian experience on several blocks in downtown right? You’ve talked about moving away from harsh streetscapes to more welcoming, walkable streets with greenery, art, banners and ground-floor retail creating an interesting pedestrian experienceWe're evaluating the existing conditions of every block face in downtown -- that’s 350 square blocks or 1,400 block faces.
