In this week’s column for Vogue, writer BellaMackie considers why she’s filled with rage all of the time.

Anger can be a good front. In the most positive of circumstances, it can galvanise us into action. Anger helped thousands of people to get out and protest in the streets across America. Without that righteous rage, I imagine many of those who rallied and bandied together might have felt more inclined to lie down and cry. Collective anger which strengthens resolve and powers a fight against an injustice is one thing.

The problem, for me at least, is not examining anger when you feel it. It never trickles in slowly, rage comes on strong and takes hold of you with force. And because of that force, it’s sometimes easier to go with the flow of the fury than to sit and dig down into what it might be masking. And going with the flow when you’re pumped up is rarely a good thing. You might shout at your partner, or be rude to someone who’s just doing their job.
