Opinion from EJ Montini: The justice system doesn’t do well when it comes to politicians. But if the evidence warrants it, then taking the next step is a must.
Partial release of a Georgia grand jury report into Trump's 2020 election probe recommended"appropriate indictments" for alleged witness perjury.
I’d guess that prosecutors in the case aren’t happy with Kohrs going public, but in Georgia grand juries don’t issue indictments, they only make recommendations. And for all the talking she did, Kohrs managed not to reveal too much. When asked about the indictment recommendations, for example, she said, “You probably have a fair idea of what may be in there.”
He’s already doing this. Last week Trump claimed “total exoneration” in the Georgia inquiry, as if simply saying it is a defense. As if evidence should be ignored. It’s a strategy that often works, sadly, because those who support a politician like Trump are more than happy to ignore facts and to make excuses. We’ve already seen that. We’re seeing it still.
